Mallorca bar, restaurant & club guide > Restaurants in Mallorca
Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic islands, offers the visitor a wide variety of restaurants ranging from the traditional to international to haute cuisine to rival that found in any major European city. The latter of these restaurants can mainly be found in Palma, the throbbing capital of the island, but the rest of Mallorca's 3,625 square kilometres reveal many hidden gems for the hungry. Take your pick of restaurants on secluded beaches or with breathtaking views of steep rocky precipices or along the marina. Mallorca cuisine The island has excellent fresh fish and shellfish which should not be missed. "Sobrasada" is the island's famous spread made of pork, paprika and other spices. The ensaimada is the traditional breakfast treat made with flour, lard and powdered sugar. Dishes include the "frito mallorquin" (fried pig liver with fried red pepper, potatoes and other vegetables), "arros brut" aka dirty rice (a rice soup with pork, rabbit, onion, mushrooms and sometimes spicy hot) and “cochinillo”, the famous suckling pig.
